SplitUtility describes itself as a utility bill-splitting tool for landlords. Its site lists property and tenant records, splits by tenant percentages, AI bill info extraction, tenant bill emails with attachments and payment instructions, and bill history.

Where SplitUtility is the better fit

  • A lower starting price ($9.80/month) and a longer trial (30 days) that does not ask for a card.
  • Unlimited properties and tenants on both plans, so price does not change with unit count.
  • An annual plan with a published 30% saving. MeterEase is monthly only today.

How MeterEase is different

  • MeterEase splits by square footage, bedrooms or occupants as well as percent, with hybrid blends and mid-month proration on Growth and Portfolio. SplitUtility’s app stores a split percentage for each tenant.
  • Vacancy rules: keep a vacant unit in the split so the owner covers it, or leave it out. Vacant units are never emailed.
  • CSV exports for your rent app and QuickBooks, and charges pushed to DoorLoop on Growth and Portfolio.
